Give Me All the Rattan and Woven Everything

Y'all, I can taste the summer right around the corner!  Even though it is rainy and cold today in Charleston, SC, I know that summer temps will be here by the weekend.  With that being said, I am looking forward to updating some home decor and my closet accessories and I am obsessing over everything rattan and woven!  Did you all see that adorable vintage rattan rocking horse in Zeb's nursery?

It makes since that I would love it.  I like to consider myself as a neutral (and by neutral I mean black with the occasional ivory, blush, or navy) dresser and our home decor is pretty neutral as well, so the natural elements in rattan furniture and woven closet accessories is a perfect fit.  Here are some of my picks for my home/closet refresh!

Home Decor

Mirrors

Mirrors are a super easy and fairly inexpensive way to get into this trend.  These are my current favorites!  L to R: Serena and Lily, $298-$398/ Houzz, $145/ Target, $49.99

Headboards

I have been looking for a headboard for the bed in our guestroom for years!  I have always loved rattan ones, but always felt they were a little too busy.  These options have very simple lines that will transition well after the trend passes.  L to R: Houzz, $425 (queen)/Pier 1 Imports, $279.95/ Target, $199

Decor

Rattan is great, but rattan in color is even better!  If you can't commit to the trend, colored pieces may help make it feel like your not in your grandma's house.  And if you still can't commit, but want to dabble, then opt for a small piece or too like a lamp or place mats! L to R: Target, $69.99/ Grandinroad, on sale $139/ Target, $59.99/ Target, $34.99/ IKEA, $4.99 for 3

For the Closet

Here are some easy pieces to add to your closet to stay on trend.  I am loving Zara's selection of natural woven bags this season.  I bought one a few weeks ago that I love, but I couldn't find it on the site anymore to link it.  How cute is that palm leaf bag? And I think I have to have the woven flats to go with the belt that I already own!  L to R: Anthropologie, $118/ Zara, $45.90/ Zara, $29.90/ Zara, $69.90/ Anthropolgie, $118

A Peek Into My Closet

Ever since I laid eyes Carrie Bradshaw's blue walk-in closet, lined with gorgeous gowns and rows of Manolos, I have dreamt of having an organizational clothing oasis of my own. When James Lynn Builders sat down with me to design the layout of our new addition, I asked them to keep stretching the square footage of what would be the closet area. Sure it made for a smaller bathroom, but it is so nice to have space for all of my shoes, clothes, and accessories.

After checking out different closet units, we decided to do it ourselves. Nate checked out online plans and Youtube videos and figured out how to build all of the shelves by hand. Handy husband? Check.

We decided to keep the shelving a bright white to let the clothing and accessories stand out. To give the closet some contrast we used Target's Devine Color peel and stick wallpaper on the back wall.

Have a Happy Monday!

Cheers!

Cold Weather Cozy!

Here's the thing, I really do not like cold weather.  When the mild brisk chill of fall fades into the more frigid temperatures of winter, I have to fight the urge to hibernate!  In the colder months, it is typical for me to take super long, super hot showers to warm up.  I put two blankets and a down comforter on my bed, and a heated throw blanket on my couch.  I spend the winter months longing for the hot temperatures of August.

That said, I absolutely LOVE winter clothes!  Give me boots, leggings, and an oversized cozy sweater any day.  I love a turtle neck paired with a ponytail and fun earrings, or layering up cool t-shirts with a comfortable cardigan.  Here are some of my favorite sweaters for this season, in my signature muted color palate of course.

Bundle up out there!

2016 Emmy Fashion

This past Sunday, our favorite stars hit the red carpet for the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.  Everyone was looking glamorous, but there were a few stand outs for me.  Here we go:

 Emilia Clarke in Atelier Versace

Emilia Clarke in Atelier Versace

Emilia Clarke stunned in this nude dress.  I love the simplicity of this elegant look, and it was so well tailored!  The beloved Khaleesi is at the top of my list.

 Tatiana Maslany in Alexander Wang

I always love a good cut-out dress, but I especially love this one because it is subtle.  Sometimes cut-out dresses are just about showing skin, but this look is about creating interesting lines that flatter the figure.  Also, the red is super flattering on Tatiana!

Michelle Dockery in Oscar de la Renta

Okay, normally ruffles are really not my thing.  That said, I am surprised at how much I love this look on Michelle Dockery.  It just seemed so fun and refreshing, and she carries it so well.  I also love the hem line.  Well done!

 Olivia Culpo in Zac Posen

Speaking of fun, how fun is this little number on Olivia Culpo?  I love the structure and of course, the sparkle.  It feels daring and young.

Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Millie Bobby Brown in RED Valentino

Hello cuteness overload!  I loved these young ones in Stranger Things and I love them on the red carpet as well!  They are totally charming!  Millie is quite the fashionista!

Who were your Emmy red carpet favorites?

Fall Favorites

Y'all, Fall is just around the corner and I can't wait! It is my favorite time of year.  I love the weather, the leaves, the smells (pumpkin everything and cinnamon), the clothes, and the holidays!  Here are some of my favorite fall things....

These Boots

Free People, $198

I'm really crushing on these cute Free People booties! They will be a perfect addition to my Fall wardrobe and they come in a variety of colors...including black!

This Candle

Henri Bendel, $30

This is one of my favorite scents ever!  I love musky, woodsy scents and this one is a good one.  The burn time on these candles is long and the scent will fill a large space without being super overwhelming.  Try the Cinnamon Bark one too!

This Kid's Shirt

Mochi Kids, $25

I bought this adorable raglan for my daughter to sport the entire month of October.  It's so cute and so soft and perfect for those cooler fall days.  And really it can be worn for more than just Halloween.  Check out more cute designs HERE.

This Nail Polish

One of Pantone's Palette for Fall 2016, Potter's Clay, screams fall!  I am willing to branch out of my all black and gray everyday uniform for this color.  It's so warm.  See the rest of Pantone's Fall Fashion colors HERE.

Happy Wednesday!
