My favorite way to work out is running. I love to be outside on a beautiful day, listening to some music, and going for a run. I will admit to running less often when it's cold, but this warm Spring weather has coaxed me back out to the local greenways and I'm having a blast.
Now I know that running it's not everyone's thing. Some of you may love biking or circuit training classes, or maybe you enjoy a brisk walk. No matter your preference, I think we can all agree that a fun playlist to accompany you in the workout of your choice makes things a lot more fun. Here are some tunes from my running playlist you might enjoy. Of course, I organized them into categories so you can strategically add them to your current playlist.
To get you going:
I love a nice, easy tune to get me started. These songs would be great for any kind of warm up you want to do!
Once you are all warmed up, it's about finding your pace and settling in to your exercise. I still like an easy beat here, maybe just a little bit faster.
When it's a mental game:
Everything hurts, but power through anyway. These songs will help you climb those mountains!
- My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light Em Up), Fall Out Boy
- Going On, Gnarls Barkley
- Stronger, Kanye West (This one may be a bit overplayed, but hey, it works for me!)
Time to push hard:
These songs are great for the end of a workout. Yes, you may be tired, but these tunes will help you finish strong.
- Here I Come, The Roots
- Run (I'm a Natural Disaster), Gnarls Barkley
- Time Bomb, Beck
(I love to end a run with this song. Nothing makes me hustle like this fast-paced beat!)
Yep, you just completed a workout and you are a total badass. Listen to these lovely songs to savor your accomplishments and cool down.
Exercise is something great you can do for your own physical and mental well-being. Why shouldn't you listen to songs that you are secretly obsessed with, but don't want to advertise because you might lose cool points?
- Uptown Funk (feat. Bruno Mars), Mark Ronson (I know it's hard, but try not to stop mid-workout and bust a move then this one comes on. Then again, maybe you should...)
- Starships, Nicki Minaj
- Roar, Katy Perry (Pretty much any song by Katy Perry could go on this list, am I right?)
Now go load up your playlist and get it done!
