Well, hello there! It's been awhile. Now that summer is over and school is in session, we are on a more consistent schedule (YAY!!). With Fall and Winter just around the corner, I'm prepping my skin for the dry seasons. The cold beach breeze and the gas heat really take a toll on my skin and since I walk my daughter to school this year, I will be even more exposed to the cold. Facial Steams are a great way to keep skin looking calm and dewy, and I have an easy one to do at home!!
There are so many different combinations you can do to benefit your skin, but this recipe is good for all skin types. The lavender is a good antibacterial and is really calming, great for puffiness and itchy skin. Eucalyptus leaves have flavinoids containing antioxidants and inflamation reducing tannins. Fennel seeds and great for improving acne and helps reduce water retention. Rose petals can reduce redness, protect from sun damage, and moisturize skin. Chamomile is soothing, brightens skin, and is an anti inflamitory. Now that you know how everything benefits the skin, lets get started.
- 2-3 sprigs of Lavender
- 2-3 sprigs of Eucalyptus
- 1 tablespoon of Fennel Seeds
- 1 small handful of Rose Petals (about 3 tablespoons)
- 1 Chamomile tea bag (I use Tazo brand. It smells amazing)
- 1 bowl
- 1 towel to drape over your head
Optional: Essential oils. I use a few drops of Geranium and Lavender.
Boil water (about 2 cups, depending on how big your bowl is). Add all ingredents to a bowl. Pour water into bowl. Put a towel over your head and put your face over the bowl. Sit and relax for 10-20 minutes. Enjoy!
